In 1989, Sue Ellen’s threw open her doors on Cedar Springs with all the glamour, grit, and Texas nerve her name promised. The crowd that walked in made it home.

For 37 years we’ve been the living room of queer Big D: a little bit honky-tonk, a whole lot of heart, and a welcome that’s never asked you to be anything but yourself.

    The Doors Open

    Sue Ellen’s opens on the Cedar Springs strip — all glamour, grit, and Texas nerve, built for the realest crowd in the state.

    Home On The Block

    Cedar Springs becomes the heart of queer Dallas, and Sue Ellen’s becomes its living room — a place to two-step, find your people, and be exactly who you are.

  3. 2010

    Two Floors, One Family

    A new home a few doors down: two floors of DJs, drag, and disco, plus the patio that’s been packed ever since.

  4. Today

    Still Standing

    As lesbian bars vanished across America, Sue Ellen’s held the line — now one of the largest and longest-running anywhere in the country.
